Performance Poet

I never thought about myself as a poet (and to be fair, I’ll never be a page poet), but whilst I was still an undergraduate I wrote a poem and was invited to perform it as a stand-alone Performing Poetryat an event. It was well-received, and I was invited back as the headline act in my own right. I thanked them profusely and went home to panic! That one poem was literally all I had! Six frantic weeks later I was able to deliver a collection to fill the guest slot I’d been allocated.

It’s been great for me ever since, and on the back of it I’ve been invited to deliver several workshops ranging from writing poetry to microphone technique; I’ve performed in a national poetry slam, representing Liverpool’s Dead Good Poets;  and I’ve even performed in a lesbian club in Palermo. I’ve acted as MC at events all over the country, including an event on BBC South West.
